Virtual Consults

We offer virtual consultations for existing clients only. This means that you can connect with the same doctors you know and trust, now from the comfort of your home. We know that taking a pet to the hospital isn’t always practical or possible each and every time something comes up, so we want to offer a system that will provide more flexibility in the way that we deliver care.

What does this mean for you?

Nothing changes at the hospital—We’d love to continue to see you and your pet in person, and in many cases, this is still the most appropriate avenue for the most prompt care and treatment. Telemedicine is meant to supplement, and not replace, your pet’s office visits.

As a stand-alone, digital consultation will be charged at our normal appointment fees. This pricing is for the consultation only and any in-person follow-up will be billed separately. Please remember to always call with an urgent or emergency issue for the most prompt service.

What types of situations are appropriate for a virtual consult?

We only offer telehealth services to patients with whom we have an existing relationship, that is up-to-date on vaccinations and wellness testing, and whom we have examined in person within the past six months. Below are examples of some conditions that may be appropriate for virtual consultation (but please remember that this list is not all-inclusive, nor does it guarantee that your pet will not have to come into the hospital for additional tests/an in-person exam):

  • Behavior consultations
  • Allergy flare-ups
  • Diabetic care and management
  • External parasites
  • Hospice care
  • Initial lameness evaluations
  • Patients or clients with limited mobility
  • Medication refills
  • Nutritional counseling
  • Weight management
  • Rechecks of chronic conditions

What types of situations are not likely appropriate for a virtual consult?

  • Any type of urgent or emergency situation
  • Eye and ear issues, in most cases
  • Acute onset of GI symptoms

What’s the Fine Print?

  • Not all ailments are good fits for telemedicine. If a follow-up in-office visit is needed it will typically be charged as a recheck or follow-up visit.
  • Telemedicine visits are charged at the same rate as our in-office exams.

“Just wow. We had an emergency with one of our kittens and called four places and the emergency vet and none could take us.
Clarendon Animal Care was so empathetic and agreed to take us at the end of the day. Every staff member-reception, techs, the vet—were so upbeat and friendly.”
