Pia Hooks

Veterinary Assistant - Joined CAC July 2024

Pia was born in Alexandria, VA, and raised in Fort Washington, MD. She graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park, with a Bachelor of Science in Animal Sciences. During her time in college, Pia served as a teaching assistant, focusing on the husbandry of equine, bovine, swine, ovine, and poultry species. She also completed an internship where she oversaw the care of screech owls, sea ducks, and American kestrels. Abroad in Italy, she shadowed a veterinarian who rehabilitated cats, dogs, and farm animals in refuges.

Pia is deeply passionate about animal welfare and wildlife conservation. Her next goal is to attend veterinary school, where she aims to fulfill her lifelong dream of becoming a veterinarian.

In her free time, Pia enjoys long drives down backroads with the windows down, binge-watching TV series, and spending time with her beloved children—two cats and a dog.
